I just saw my first coin in a old PCGS slab that said "Eagle Eye", small picture of an Eag

"Photo Seal" under that. Or is this new? Looks like an old holder. Also, I remember reading a reply to a thread here that mentioned PCGS experimenting with pictures to grade way back when. Does anybody know the full story to PCGS having this on their slabs?

Thanks,

Jerry

  • Those are from Eagle Eye Rare Coins (Rick Snow) and what it signifies is that Mr. Snow considers that coin to be an accurately graded coin that meets his standards for a properly designated IHC or FE cent -

this is done after the grading and was not put on the slab by PCGS.

Here's a link that explains it all:

Glad you think it's funny. Well, I'm not LOL, I'm embarrassed!

  • Don't be embarrassed...heck, when I first started, a dealer put a "PQ" sticker on a PCGS slab and I fell for it!

Jerry, don't worry - that's what these boards are for - There's dealers like Rick who's willing to put his opinion on a coin that he thinks is nice and then there's that guy from china who's got 2 1804 silver dollars for sale - always a good idea to get a 2nd opinion on things you're not sure of - and one thing's for sure - you'll get a lot of "2nd" opinions here image

  • Thanks, now I am LOL. But still somewhat embarressed. At least I'm not still staring at the coin wondering what Eagle Eye and Photo Seal are doing on a PCGS holder. Yep, LOL. Thanks,

  • It should also come with a laminated certificate. One side of the certificate is a photograph of the front of the slab, the back is a description and signature(s). There are three varieties of certificate that I know of (different slab companies do not constitute different certificates, the backs are different). I have heard that there may be a fourth but I have seen one.
