you got that right, goodwin just got there auction catolog out to me on saturday I couldnt believe it when I saw it. Last month they auctioned 9 or 10 1914 Cracker Jack cards off it was nice. Ive bid on a Ty Cobb GAI 7 Im not winning it right now but continplating bidding again
But I am winning Jack Harshman PSA 9 Red Man Tobbaco Joe Astroth 52' topps PSA 8
Both of those are only at $130 I believe they'll be going up in price
I've seen a lot of 1915 CJ Mathewson PSA 9s sell over the past few years. I know that there are only five in the population report - but this is one card that seems to get flipped all the time. I wonder why that is?

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

well this auction goes until nov 9th I want to say, and my guess is that it will still go out in the closing days. On top of the 15% thats alot of money not vary many people can afford to drop in the ballpark of $40,000 like that. But maybe the seller keeps putting it back up for auction hoping it will make them more money than they spent. Thats the only reason I could think of on why you would want to keep passing this card around. i know id love to own it as well
Mastro, from what I understand. A pristine set of '14's, almost all 1/1's. I've already heard a few people are selling stuff to increase the war chest for this one.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Does anyone know anything about those Winthrops also in this auction? It's says they were just recently catalogued, and I've never heard of them. Pricing could be who knows what, but it seems to me a 1907 Matty card for $500 could be a bargain.

Is it NM-MT or Mint?? >>
I believe it is Near Mint.
If you're not familiar with the 1914s (which I'm guessing) - basically the Mathewson has emerged as one of the true chase cards in the last 4-5 years. There has been nothing else graded above VG by any of the grading companies. It is a different pose that the 1915 CJ, causing further demand, and it is an action/pitching pose, which also increases its popularity (it is a cool looking card). It is also undeniably scarce. Good examples sell in the five figures. There is no sense estimating what the 7 Near Mint example will go for - other than to say a whole freaking lot, more than I could afford, obviously.

I do love that 1914 pose. What is funny is that I remember an article that I think Joe Orlando wrote saying that they changed the Matty picture from 1914 to 1915 because the portrait was better looking. I personally disagree.
I like the '15 better- the '14 doesn't even look like him. But the last time I checked there were 3 graded examples of the '14, and I think Peter G. has 2 of them. I've seen the '14 come up 3-4 times (raw and graded) in the last 3 years, but have seen Chance come up once (he was replaced by Hal Chase in the '15 set). I think that is the tough card- just not as expensive.
