Just picked this up on ebay on one of those impulse purchases. I figured that for $100 I couldn't go terribly wrong. That the coins look very much original and as issued just appealed to me.
Swiatek and Breen's Encyclopedia of US Silver & Gold Commemorative coins states that about 20 of these have been seen by them but that book is over 10 years old. They illustrate the exact holder.
Anyone know if these are that scarce or feel they're remotely interesting?

I have been informed by a knowledgable board member that there are different variations of the holder and that this person has seen 100-150 of them. His estimate puts the survival rate more along the lines of 400-500 although I'm not sure if that's just for the holder or with original coins still inside.
