Ok, this is a BGS not BVG graded vintage card.. do you think that has a shot at a PSA 8?

If it measures up, it definitely looks like an 8

Based on the sub-grade of "7" corners that card is not likely an 8. It's grade is propped by the smooth edges.
  • I'll disagree with the popular notion that the corners would drag this grade down. This card was graded under their BGS service. Before they instituted the BVG grading brand. At this time Beckett was notoriously tough on older cards. If the card measures up you have a good shot at an 8. Break it out though, before you submit.

  • What's happening with the lower right corner? It looks like a bit of wear???

If that lower right corner is fine I think it has an excellent chance at an 8. I have had good success crossing over original BGS grades to PSA. Beckett was ridiculously tough when they first came out. I would submit the card in the holder first and request an 8, if it does not come back graded, than I would crack it out and re-submit.

thant is my plan.. i am not to confident in my cracking skills.. i do not want to damage the card
  • It should definitely crossover to a PSA 8. I tried this about 3 years ago with 2 cards from the same wax pack in almost identical condition. I sent a 72 Morgan to BGS and a 72 B. Gibson to PSA. The Morgan was a BGS 7.5 with 7 corners as is your Munson. My Gibson came back a PSA 8. Hope this helps!
  • I can't say whether yours will cross or not... Sure looks close... but in my experience... 6 of 7 cards submitted for a crossover from BGS to PSA came back as Evidence of trimming... this was 2-3 years ago. These were higher dollar cards like oscar robertson, bill russell, magic/bird rookies etc...

I think you can ask psa not to crack it open if it doesn't cross.
