Polished 1991 Lincoln - looks funny

I thought this Lincoln was pretty weird. It has loads of die polish marks. The planchet also seems wavy most noteably on Lincoln's neck. Then there is that blob of metal to the left of IN GOD.

Cool man, i like the lines
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
  • Awsome coin and I like the extra metal....gives the coin character!!!
  • The "extra metal" is actually a bubble in the plating.

I would say the same thing. I've been seeing alot of this in post '82 Lincolns. Makes me begin to think that premium examples are going to be tough in a hundred years !!

  • I would have never guessed the blob was a bubble in the plating. I guess I don't see enough modern Lincolns.

Sorry to say this, but I think it would be fun to try to pop a bubble like that. I'm going to look at all my change and try to find one image

  • The bubble in the plating may not be caused b gas under the plating. It could also be caused by corrosion of the zinc underneath, in which case the bubble would be "solid".
