Massive die polish?

Is it too much die polish or hairlines? Looks like someone at the mint was having a good time with this one but I could be wrong. It is a little hard to tell with my underpowered loupe.

Here's the other side. Nasty hits which I doubt the mint made:

That's a pretty coinimage. Heavy die polishing on Roosevelts is very common. mike

From the picture it looks like you have both die polish and hairlining on the coin out in the right field with the hairlining extending onto his neck area. If it all was die polish it most likely would end at the point where the field hits his neck. Hard to see from the photo but that appears to be what is going on with the coin. Too bad as it is a nice looking coin.

  • You have to get a really good look at the coin to see if it's die polish or not. The die polish lines will be raised, hairlines will be dug into the coin.

It looks like lines from a cleaning. Possibly wiped with a jewelry cleaning cloth and the residue created the tone after it was placed in a Dansco or something similiar.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • If you look at the field to the right of Roosevelt's head, you can clearly see the reflection of light off of the top of the raised die polish lined.

Very neat color, and very nice looking Roosieimage
