Believe in the coin!!!!

Had a very high end 63 coin in a NGC-63 holder.

Sent to PCGS for a crossover...rejected.

Sent to PCGS for Presidential review...crossed with no issues.

Believe in the coin, not the holder. My precentage is quite low at cross overs, yet quite high for Presidential Reviews of the some of the same coins, what does this mean?

I think it could mean that it's hard to see a coin through a plastic slab, and graders, looking at a coin for 5-10 seconds, will dismiss a coin they can't guarantee is the right grade out of the plastic. A presidential review gets a better view, and probably more concentration on what's on the slab versus what's on the coin.

i've been of the opinion that Jeremy stated for quite some time. the Presidential Review gives DH a bit more of a look at the coin and he probably has a better eye, also.

As the author, I agree as well. Now, what does this mean with respect to the general evaluation given crossovers? Pointless to ask but worthwhile to ponder.

i think what it means is that once the coin is cracked out of the other service's holder PCGS has just assumed the guarantee so they are a bit more cautious, they'll have more of a tendency to err on the low end.
