Not to me--there are a lot more beautiful/historical coins that can be had for the money. Besides, a few proof silver eagles is all you need to enjoy their stunning DCAMs

Seriously, it's all about supply/demand as usual. They've generally been selling for around $2500. Price have moved up a bit recently, but $3500 still seems way high for now.

Heck, if I was going to flush $3500 on proofs it would be platinum, not an ordinary SAE.

Well, the spot price of silver closed up $0.03/ounce on Friday, so I would say that $3,500 is a fair price.

Seriously, how many were sold with the sets? How does that number compare to some 19th Century $1 Proofs? Are there different grades like 68, 69 , or 70? Are many even graded?
