This is the first time I've ever seen ACG claim "cleaned" on their slab

With so much of the coins in ACG slabs either overgraded or cleaned (IMO only) I just had to buy this to see what constitutes cleanning to them.

Looks ok there, dipped but no harsh cleaning noticable. Now tipped in to the light.

Now the hirelines are seen on the lower left part of the coin. Clearly this coin was wiped at some time but considering some of the more harshly cleaned/dipped coins I've seen in ACG holders I'm surprised that this was tagged as such.

This is one of the more accurate descriptions, in my personal opinion (which the law entitles me to), that I've seen in ACG plastic. It actually looks too lustrous to have been *cleaned* harshly, IMO. It looks like it still has some cartwheel left.

  • There are some ACG slabs out there that are undergraded. Those are typically the coins submitted by the general public (not a dealer friend down South). It is rare, but it happens. How do I know? Because I have upgraded or just crossed a few ex-ACG coins to NGC and PCGS. On the other hand, I have seen some of the worst overgrading in ACG and NTC slabs.

I've bought one ACG coin in my life ... a 1961 PR-69 DCAM Jeff for $8 that I cracked and it went PR-69 CAM (22/0) at PCGS ... (it is a DCAM.) Other than these very rare picks, stay away ...

<< It looks like it still has some cartwheel left.>> IT does have full cartwheel luster, not broken but a touch muted by the hairlines.

<<you better hang on to that one CHRIS,, it might go into the guiness book someday >> What's their phone number LOL.

<<There are some ACG slabs out there that are undergraded>>Very true; I've bought five or six ACG coins before, I have a 1934-D qtr that was graded MS64 and crossed at the same grade. It still is undergraded IMO. I also picked this one up the same day; it's almost good enough for a 65 and for under $30 a nice buy.

Interesting. I would have assumed it would be in pretty bad shape for ACG to mark it as cleaned
