1909P Lincoln cent DDR photo.

By request after I made the list of doubled dies I've found lately, here's a close up of PLURIBUS on the best of the 1909P DDRs I've found in the last month.

Neat! Could there be such a thing as a 1917-s DDR? I see doubling in the last two letters of America, and ...URIBUS... Could this be strike doubling? My 25-d and my old 26-s both had obvious strike doubling on some lettering, but I swear the 17-s looks a little different to that.
  • Nice pics as usual Chuck. Glad to see you back!

I happened to look in the back room of an associate today and saw he has a 5 gallon bucket full of Lincolns sitting on the floor. He owns a drive through coffee house and throws all the pennies in the bucket rather than deal with them. I need to see if he'll let me browse through them image

There's at least some chance that there is a doubled die reverse that remains to be reported on just about any date. You're welcome to send it in and let me have a look at it.

Great pic C.D. I am still amazed at your ability to nail so many varieties on your last outing.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • Thank you so much for posting it!!! I have about 2doz or so 1909p that I will need to check. Is this variant also on the 1909 VDB?
This is a very dumb ass thread. - Laura Sperber - Tuesday January 09, 2007 11:16 AM image

Congrats Chuck. I had a 1909 that looked just like yours but I thought it was machine doubling.

Not that I am aware of. So far all known DDOs are on the VDB, and all the known DDRs are on the no-VDB.

Congrats Chuck. I had a 1909 that looked just like yours but I thought it was machine doubling.

The difference for me was the wheat stalks - both are thick and have separation at the top and stems. I thought at first that it may be machine doubling, then I looked a little harder. There is notching in many places that sealed it for me.
