Coin shops

I was in the coin shop today, there was a guy talking to the owner trying to sell a box of coins. I overheard the owner tell him the value was about $5500.00 and offered him $1500.00 sounds like a rip to me or is this normal practice for coin shops to offer cents on the dopllar.

Coin shops do have more overhead to pay for. I am not sure, but I have heard a rate of between 70% - 80% of the value is pretty standard.

So the owner of the shop first says the coins are worth $5500, then goes and offers $1500? That seems strange to me.
  • Me to, the best I could make out was it was a fairly large box of mostly commom stuff and the shop owner didn't really want it. The guy was Pissed.
