Mom is asking for Christmas gift ideas. What coin books should I ask for?

Or any supplies that would be nice to have? She usually spends about a hundred bucks, so she said give me a few ideas on some stuff I might want. I've already asked for a few cds.

Edited for spelling errors.

  • If ya don't have this one May I suggest:

Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837 by Russell J. Logan and John W. McCloskey.

The most comprehensive treatment of the subject available. This brand new book on the early half dimes will undoubtedly be the definitive work on the subject. All known varieties are covered in detail with many large photographs. 293 pages.

  • I have a copy of this book and recommend it especially for the newer collector: How to Grade U.S. Coins by James L. Halperin It`s a pretty easy read and offers alot of good information on fine tuning some of the things to look for in a coin like strike, luster, eye appeal and other things. Alot of pictures too ( about half the book are pictures ) and geared mainly for the newer collector or to brush up on some of the basics.
