CROSSOVER FROM NGC TO PCGS

SteveSteve Posts: 3,312 ✭✭✭
I just got a BIN on EBAY as an upgrade to my Lincoln Memorial Proof Registry. Great price and it gave me a chance to see the new NGC holder. It would have cost me triple the price to get this coin in a PCGS holder and so I'll cross it later. I thought the new NGC label with its bold writing is an improvement on their older label, but it just doesn't come close to satisfying my desire. I just like the fact that PCGS shows the coin series number and the coin number on the label. It makes collecting the series much more fun. What do you think? Steveimage

I've never had issues with NGC's grading. However, I hate those white inserts that hold the coin in NGC slabs.

For me, those numbers mean absolutely nothing. But that's just me.

For holding the coin in hand and examining it, the white NGC slab background works well.

    For imaging, they SUCK.

I've found that imaging NGC coins is quite easy. The slab, being white, gives you something easy to white balance against, or if you are off, you can easily adjust the image in Photoshop or whatever and the white slab gives you a great reference spot.
