Dog, Sorry to hear of your loss. All moms are special and your's seems to have had a good life. Cancer takes too many away. Mine included, 19 years ago. We don't know how much moms are worth until they are not there anymore. Not a day will go by that you don't think of her but rest assured, you will see her again.
Dog I am sorry for your loss. She sounded like a very special woman who wanted to make a difference in peoples lives. The way she touched both your and your daughters life is very important. She is in my prayers. Joe
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss but certainly appreciate you taking the time to "share" a part of your mother's life with us here...... She's in VERY good hands now and will suffer no more........god bless you and that beautiful young lady Amber !! Our prayers are with you both.
Dog, those were quite touching words about your Mom. I feel your pain as I too, lost my Mom a few years ago. You are on the right track with your memories as they WILL forever be in yours. God bless you and your family. John
Very sorry about the passing of your mother. My mom is a single mom also so I know how close you must have been to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Dog, My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your daughter. We also had a close friend pass away from the same disease, 3 weeks ago. So glad you were with her when she passed on. Take one day at a time and think of all those good memories!
I feel your pain. Your Mother's passing has fulfiied the very reason for which she was born. Along the way, her "being" touched the lives of many others. She is touching mine at this very moment. Even though we know this worldly existence MUST come to an end, when "that day" comes the sting of it's reality can be overwhelming. Just know that she fought the good fight, completed her test and loves her son and grand daughter very much. She will live on through the both of you.
Grieving is natural, especially considering how close you are. Time goes on and although the sting may lessen, it NEVER goes away. Try to remember the way she lived. May your tears soon give way to thoughts of happier times. She is in no more pain and rest assured, she is now and forever in very Good Hands. Take care dog...ALL of you are in my prayers.
Dog As one of the old timers here,I share your loss.I too lost my mom a few years ago. While she didn't start me in collecting, she did incourage me the last couple of years of her life.I'm quite sure she is watching over you and your daughter, from a far better place !
Dog, that was a wonderful story, I am saddened that we came to hear the story of your start in coins at the passing of your mother. You had many many wonderful years with her, and for that you have many good memories. Cherish them as you do your daughter. I know you will. I lost my mother at the tender age of 16, so I know how you feel. At least you had the time with her to both enjoy the birth of your daughter, and for your daughter to know her grandmother. Something my son will never know. I say these things as a reminder to us all to take the time we have and enjoy those whom we love as much as we can, for we never know their or our own time. God be with you, as she is with him. My deepest sympathies.
Neil

Sorry to hear of your loss, keep her memorey fresh through your daughter and the good thoughts you have. I lost my Mother 7 yrs. ago and she is spoken of so often, just as your Mother is now and for years to come will be. My Prayers are with you and your daughter.
Dog Sorry for your loss I understand how it feels you and I are about the same age your a year older I lost my mother my senior year in high school 1985. She was the one who got me started in coin collecting and gave me the bussinse smarts I have. I just got some coins out of a lock box that had been in there from 1985 that her and I had collected I got them out the day of My step grandmothers funeral about 3 weeks ago. It was very touching and made me think alot due to I was seeing here writing on 2x2s and and notes she had made on some of the packages, it made me think of her trust me you will never forget your mother and she is always there and looking over you. I decided to start a tribute set of her birth year 1927 about a month and a half ago of http://www.pcgs.com/new_set_registry/display_coins.chtml?regsetid=23302&rank=1&alltime=yes it is sorta a way of her collecting with me. I decide to start one also for my dad a 1929 mint set his birth year he is still alive but i found out today he may have to have a artierigram surgy in the next week or so he has 80-90% blockage in one of his artiers going to his brain but I have faith.
Mayby you may want to start some sort of tribute set in coins for your mom
A side note, it is funnie that you mentioned Books a million due to I have done some work to a member of the family who started that company, Jole Anderson he also Collects Coins.
As you may already know, my mother passed away a couple of months ago as I posted in this thread..
She also died of complications related to AML, as your mother did. I was fortunate that my mother fought the disease for over 8 years, so we had much time to be with each other. I am so sorry that your mother went so quickly.
I know that you have a reputation for being tough and rumble. However, I can sense your pain and suffering and your restraint in showing those emotions. In private, do yourself a favor and let it all out. I do. I sit next to my mothers fresh grave and cry like a baby. I miss her so much and not an hour goes by that I don't think about her. People (including many forum friends) tell me that it will get easier as time goes on, so that keeps my sanity; hoping for the day when it doesn't hurt so much.
I have a son that's about the same age as your daughter (he was born in May of '98). He really took it hard when we told him of the reality that his Nonna was in heaven. I am sure that you are comforting your daughter through all of this, because your post is clearly indicative of your kind and gentle side.
I will send a donation to your Mother's scholarship fund. In addition, I will ask for your address via PM so that I can send some 1897 Barber material to your daughter. Btw, that picture that you posted of your Mom and your daughter is bitter/sweet; so beautiful and so sad at the same time.
God bless you and your family. I will say a prayer for your comfort and for your Mom. I am sure that she will have a special place in heaven, especially considering how many children she has helped over the years.
Dog, my sincere condolences on your mom's passing. It is something to read a story that is both so sad and also uplifting. Your mom was obviously a special person (and thank God for moms like that!) and I will be praying for God's peace to be with you and Amber.
Thank you for sharing that story at such a difficult time. It is a beautiful tribute to her memory.

That's the one thing eternal about a Mother's love. It is unconditional. Suh a special love between Mother and child can never be replaced but can also never be erased. I feel for your loss and wish you and your beautiful daughter the most comfort in these sorrowful times. Your daughter will need you even more now as she tries to come to understand the loss she feels but deep inside she will always look at you and see grandma in your eyes.
I so sorry to hear about your Mom. You and Amber will be in my thoughts and prayers. Mom's are so special, they have a way of understanding us and what is important to us. I thank God everyday for the great Mom's everywhere that bless us all.
I know how you feel just losing my mother, I miss here like hell!! May god help you throught these difficult times, one day at a time my friend, it is rough. I don't have any answers or solutions, but just my deepest sympathy. Sorry man.
Very sorry to hear of your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for te very nice tribute to your mother - she sounds like a wonderful person

I read each & every post and all I can say is thank you very much for all the kind words. I have the highest respect for the posters because I have problems replying to obituary threads since I don't know what to say at a time like that so I don't say anything. Same reason I have problems with wakes, funerals, and the graveside service afterward. Moma was funny about that too and said she didn't want a funeral & all that or any kind of service. She said she didn't want people standing around her dead body laughing & joking and talking politics and looking over at her and saying oh she looks so good. She wanted to be cremated & that's what I did. Closure for me was when she died and I have been moving foward since. Because I don't have a job or a family to worry about anymore I'm going to get out of the ratrace and drink some beer, take my kid fishing, and loaf around and visit some friends & relatives I haven't seen in a while. And of course keep giving my opinions about coins on internet message boards.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Im truly sorry for your lose. I know how you feel. A couple of years ago I lost my grandfather, one of my best friends. He was always there for me. You'll be in my prayers dog, try to stay strong and remember all that she has done for you and done with you.

I'm am truly sorry for your loss. I am not very good with words, especially somthing like this. You have been a help and inspiration to everyone on this board for a long time. Having said this, I am sure you are who you are because of your Mother. Again words can never express the sorrow we feel for you at this time.
