Cameo half acquired today.

I stopped by a local shop today and broused. Spotted a 1964 proof set and asked to look at it. The penny through quarter are run of the mill. However, the half (not AH) has nicely frosted cameo devices on both sides and smooth watery mirrored fields. Not a DCAM, but a coin that is very pleasing to look at. Picked up the set on the cheap and am now looking at it.

Do I cut the half out (I feel the need to look at the coin in hand outside of the cello) or do I keep the set intact?

Rest assured the CAM and contrast will be much heavier/more appearing once the coin is out of the cello. If it looks nice in the cello, it will be even nicer out. Leaving it in or out is your call. Place it a non PVC flip or Saflip if you do remove it.

Update time. Last night I could not resist cutting the half out of the cello. I caved in and cut it out. As RGL stated, it looks much nicer out of the cello than in the cello. However, it had developed a light haze that detracted from its appearance. I removed the haze with a 1 second bath and the half now looks even better. It is a nice addition to the family of cameo Kennedies that have taken up residence with me.
