Thanks for the list. It's curious that the easy one on the list
had a mintage of less than 100,000.

    Cladking,
Which one is the one with less than 100,000?
  • cladkingcladking Posts: 28,646 ✭✭✭✭✭
The '71-S proof mintage should be a little under 100,000.

For some reason, I have not found a PR69DCAM 71-S Peg-Leg that is spot free. The majority of all Proof Ikes seem to be either a CAM or a less then a 68 due to bad toning/spotting. Hopefully soon, I can find a nice clean 71 PR69DCAM Peg Leg for at a reasonable price.

    edit: Found one image

Those dates look about right to me, although I did find that 72P peg.

I have a 71S PCGS 69DCAM that is spot free, but iI looked hard for it. image

Don't forget the 1971 D. Fairly common in Peg Leg.

    Rampage,

What type was the 1972-P? What was trhe grade? Did you get it graded? Cool find!

    Matt,

Low grade Unc-maybe 62 or 63. It is a type 1 Peg Legger. Was only $2.00 so I thought it was worth it.

Have you gotten your publication on the 71D reverse types yet?
  • SemperFISemperFI Posts: 802 ✭✭✭
    Rampage,

Yes I did get the article. The magazine is 34 pages long with the RDV-006 on the front cover and the article only on one page. It gives you the description and the die variety number of both the common RDV-001 and the rarer RDV-006. Basically the image I added to the thread is what they show you in the magazine. I can scan it in for you to see if you want.

edit: I did find another RDV-006 in my Ike hoard. Looks liek a 65...poss 66. I will send to ANACS in the near future.

Many 72-S MS have Peg Leg "R"

76 (P and D) type one MS and 76 S MS are all with Peg Leg "R"

Ken, the left leg of the R in Liberty is usually flared at the bottom. image

Hi Ken, The lower left leg of the R in LIBERTY lacks the serifs and gives the look of a peg-leg or straight legged R. If no one else posts a comparison pic, I will try to dig out a couple for you

  • Thanks Don and John! I looked at the few I have and there is one that is peg legged! It's the 76 proof!

Ken, Do you have an image of the 76 Proof?

I think now that we have all of these different Peg-Leg coins identified, we can now make another thread with images for each coin's Obv/Rev for comparison and reference. I will start a new thread and everyone can post their images there. It does not matter if we have doubles. It would be nice to see the different grades and colors of them all. I will start it off.
