Most varieties are released in one or two small geographical areas. Just because
a dealer in Florida finds a large number doesn't mean they will be widely available
anywhere else. Indeed there's a tiny chance he was able to intercept the lion's
share of the coins.

It has varied a great deal over the years and from coin to coin. New issues often cause
more trouble so 300,000 to 400,000 may not be far off. There is also a lot of variation
among similar dies too, because they often break when still pretty new.
Many varieties now days get into circulation before they are discovered which makes
them tough in unc. With the billions of coins in circulation and the few people looking
large numbers will be extremely worn or lost before they are all found. Even if these
prove to be common, there will probably never be over 100,000 or so available. This
might well be sufficient to supply the market and keep the premium low for years though
if it was a normal die run.
