  • Wow, them's some big Mercury Dimes! ...and shiny! nice. I don't have a peace dollar collection yet, but I bet they are fun to collect. Good job.

  • Why would you put nice uncirculated coins in a cheap cardboard album!?

If you want the coins to look good for a long time you should consider a safer place for them.

You have my deepest sympathies; more I cannot offer.

  • Very nice. There's nothing like cracking out a coin and putting it in an album. Very traditional.

And if you're careful there's nothing wrong with Dansco albums. Personally I wouldn't put proofs in one, but anything else is fine. Who knows, you might get a little toning. I guess I wouldn't put a $1,000+ coin in one, but I'll never own a $1,00+ coin anyway.

I like the Dansco albums and believe that those who have them are happy with them. As albums go, they are well-made and very sturdy. I've seen some very nicely toned coins come out of them as well. Just careful about the plastic slides. They can scratch!

I'm fond of Dansco albums also and I use them for Nickels and Dimes. I have also started ordering the new tarnish resistant slipcases for them too. For the Proofs I put them in Kointains and get blank Dansco pages one mm larger than the coin so the Kointain fits properly. I don't have large coins like Peace dollars in any though. I'd probably use the Kointains if I did though because I'd be afraid the big coins would get scratched up too easily.

I have always had an inherant (sp?) distrust of dansco albumns...although I don't really know why. On a whim I decided to try it out and man, it really is fun! I'm getting really good at cracking slabs too....I can do an NGC slab with one snip and it snaps right in half. image
