Another Bust Dime question.

Wondering if this is a known variety. Is it anything special?
Please note dot below the ear.

Don't want to be a pest with these.
Just hate to let go of something I don't know about.

Though I am not 100% certain... I would suspect the Dot is just a placement marker. They often did this. Their was a dot on one of the masters to show where the bust was centered, where the stars were and where the digits were... I may be compeltely wrong on this... I just think I remember that that's the explanation of the dot

Maybe the dot marks the center of the red X?

There is no image in your post, but quite often CB coinage has what is termed a "center dot" and this can be quite prominent.

It looks like JR-7 to me, which is an R.2 (common) variety. JrGman (George) is correct about the center dot. The dot was used on many varieties to aid in the layout of the stars and lettering on the obverse. Cool looking coin. Large size bust dimes are becoming difficult to locate, especially in the VF-AU range.
