The Reggie Jackson Butt Bump

A-Rod's hand slap was reminiscent of the 1978 World Series against the Dodgers when the Yankees were down 2-0 in the series and Jackson used his butt to deflect a baseball. Anyone remember that? I think it caused a run to score and Lasorda when beserk. The Yankees went on to win that game and the series
4 games to 2.

Yes. I don't understand the uproar about what Arod did. Whatever base you are going into, if the opposing player has the ball, you try to knock it out of the glove. Reggie was a little different as it did not involve a tag per se.

Reggie got away with it and it too was pretty obvious, but maybe a little more subtle.

    Go Yanks!
  • Why not just punch the guy in the face, i am sure that will make him drop the ball.............

  • What Arod did was bush league. I wouldn't mind it if they slapped a fine on him.

Ray Fosse's got the ball at home, and Pete Rose crushes him, ending his career for the most part. Fair play.

Ty Cobb slides into second, kicks the guy in the chest with sharpened cleats...he drops the ball. Fair play.

Arod smacks at a guy's mitt and it's baseball heresy? Come on. If he put his head down and bowled him over because he was in the basepath -- fair play. Get real. Sour Grapes.

Oh - there goes Ortiz again! He's an animal.
