Silver Jefferson questions

Have been busy and have not posted for a while. However, thought I would resurface with a Jeffy question.

As a kid I was given 2 MS 1943 D nickles. Blast white when I got them. Placed them in Whitman albums. They now both have pastel rainbow toning on both sides. Major eye appeal. Both have full steps. My guess as to grade would be MS65. Given the above description, what is the market value of these coins?

Next, I also have a 1943/2 P MS nickel. It is blast white. It also has full steps. The only detriment to this coin is some splotchy markings on the reverse (dull tan/grey in color contrasted against the blast white). I view it as a damaged coin (boo hoo). Absent the reverse markings I would guess the grade to be MS 63-64. What would the market value of this coin be, as described, without the splotchy markings?

Thanks, SanctionII.

  • The 43-D's are common in GEM+ with full steps, some attractive toning would ad to the value but unless it was utterly stunning I think the coins would go for under a $100 in 65FS. The 43/2 in MS with full steps s still a several hundred dollar coin in low MSFS grades.

    What's the approximate value of a '43-D in PCGS-67FS?
    When in doubt, don't.

I think they sell for ~$125 or so on Ebay.
