Who really cares about the Yanks?

GeomanGeoman Posts: 2,491 ✭✭✭
Personally, I don't. I have lost all interest in this years baseball playoffs. All I see is the big payroll teams, people shouting that the Yanks will sweep, those some people quiet now, etc. It would be nice to see the Sox come back and win.

But really, I am a Twins fan. How many others out here that there team is elimiated from the playoffs and could care less about the goings between the final teams. If you aren't a fan of one of the teams left, who cares?!? Once your team (in my case, the Twins) are done for the season, I tune out baseball, and concentrate on my other teams (ie: Vikes, Wild, etc)

It's football season!!!!

  • My team is the cubs, but this year's playoffs are simply riveting...I had never been so engrossed in a baseball game in my entire life as I was last night and most likely will be tonight also....Yankees/Sox should be a classic....

The media loves to hype up the NY teams...biggest media market in the US, and their fans are among the most obnoxious as well. As far as caring about the yankees, you have a ton of bandwagon fans (and you all know who you are out there) who love a winner, and the yanks have done well for themselves by having such a huge payroll.

I think a lot of fans share your sentiment-and it's the single biggest reason why a hard needs to be put in place. Most fans of lower payroll teams feel their teams have no shot at the postseason, due to the uneven footing they are on.

True, last night's game was good.

However, in the long run, I am just trying to point out that there are more people who are fans of other teams than the Yankees or RedSox.
  • Sorry, I often miss peoples points...lol

I agree with you for the most part, but like axtell said, everyone likes to cheer for a winner...all my favorite teams suck....So I root for the underdog when my teams blow, ie Beantown...

  • Look what the salary cap and revenue sharing has done for football. Except for the Patriotsimage. and bucs,
there is some parity in the league. Baseball NEEDS the same.

  • Of course theres fans of other teams...but when it gets down to the final 8,4,or 2 if your team is not in it, you pick another that you can get behind and cheer on. If you cant you just wait till spring training. If the Sox dont make it to the final two , for me its Houston

  • I'm a Mets fan but still love watching this series. In fact, its hard to think of a more riveting matchup between two baseball teams. When the Mets-Yanks World Series was going on it was trumped in the press, but even I knew that the series only mattered to New York. This one crosses all borders. Plus, unlike the Super Bowl which is one and done its like an evolving novel where you just can't wait to see the ending!

TRUE, but don't ever refer to me as one of them. image

Actually, I will admit I am wrong here. I am slightly interested in the baseball playoffs. Thanks for the posts, as there are some valid points. Once my team is eliminated, I tend to lose interest as many others do. However, I do like cheering for the underdog in these cases.

sportscardguy, actually, you did get it. image

Say, what is up with the salary cap in baseball? Wait, that's another tread altogether.
