Won the Ducat-surprising price

I don't know these pieces well enough in todays market to assume I'm going to win with a $15.60 high bid. (Strongly doubt it in fact)

Can anyone give me a little advice on value or their thoughts on this 1881 French silver ducat? It's darkly toned but I like original coins and the grey patina might hold some brown and seems to be even.

Woops! Hang on a minute while I fix the link...
OK, fixed-have to remember you can't do that out of Hotmail.

Hmmmm... for some reason I assumed that at $12 with ten hours to go that it was being overlooked. I guess not.

  • I considered it myself - because it's a ducat. But to be honest I didn't think it would go that high.

With staplescoin you can tell what he expects the coin to sell for by the shipping price.

Shipping runs $3.00 for stuff that usually sells for under $100 up to $12 for stuff that usually sells for >$1000. With $4.00 shipping he would have liked to get around $200 for the coin so it looks like you got yourself a deal.

I've had good luck with staplescoin winning a couple of coins in the $6.00 shipping range.
