    are you certain that's toning?

I vote her as a prime 'pocket piece' candidate, let us know when she reaches VF.

    as for grade....AU
  • That piece wont dip very well. I'd advise against it.

    Looks like environmental damage.

As Kyle stated, not a good dipping candidate. It may turn white but the luster is probably ruined.

  • Well -look at it this way - that coin is worth about $8-$10 with that FUGLY look - If you dip it, what's your downside - 2 bucks!?image

  • I am on the edge with this....the strike is VERY strong and the line in her cheek is part of the toning. I am going to take a can of Acetone to work with me.....or would MEK work better?

Choice AU in terms of wear -- I'd say AU-55. As for whether to dip, your call. I probably wouldn't, fearing I'd make an uglyish coin even uglier since I'm not sure there's much luster under that crud, but then again the downside is very limited and it's not the most attractively "toned" coin out there, so...

It's already been chemically cleaned and you're looking at the result.
A dip wouldn't remove the dark tone; you would be left with a dull grey coin in the areas where the surface has worn on the face & in the fields with light black left around the design elements.
Acetone won't do it any good either but feel free to experment because you can't possibly hurt it any further.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
