    If you are getting interested in Japanese coins (as are some of us here image ) here is a link to a website that I think Satootoko has posted before: Linkage. I think it was 1948 when reading the dates changed from right-to-left to left-to-right. You can tell by finding the year character (nen), and the kanji for which Emperor's reign it was, and whatever is in the middle is the date.

    I didn't realize the change occurred in 1948. In fact, I was oblivious to the change. image
