Special care when an expensive coin is "in the house"

David:

I presume that you know in advance when PCGS will receive a highly valuable coin (for instance, an 1804 dollar or a 1913 nickel); that is, I doubt that the owner of an 1804 dollar simply drops it in the mail without alerting you to its pending arrival. ( image ) Anyway, when you know that you'll have such a highly valuable coin, do you take special precautions? Also, do such highly valuable coins go in the queue with other coins or do you try to grade them and then get them out of your shop as quickly as possible?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mark,

We take special security precautions with extrememly expensive coins. They are not kept in the regular "queue" and we have a special very limited access safe for storing these coins.

    Thanks,

    David
