How often is a resubmitted coin recognized

David:

Taking as a fact that many coins are submitted more than once to PCGS, how often do you think a grader recognizes a coin that has been previously submitted? Obviously for some coins (eg, an 1804 dollar), recognition that the coin is being resubmitted is not too tough. But for more "typical" coins, how often do you think a coin is recognized?

Thanks in advance.

Most world class coin graders have superb memories (most are also near-sighted as near-sighted people have extra magnification close up...I'm 20-240.) On the other hand, a grader at PCGS sees so many rare coins that it's pretty hard to mentally keep track unless the coin is an ultra rarity such as an 1804 dollar or a 1913 Liberty nickel, or a rare coin with a really distinguishing mark or "look." I really don't think graders recognize "typical" coins that are resubmitted. The graders just see too many coins.

    Thanks,
