Is it bad (from a sniper perspective) to end a bunch of auctions at the same time?

I usually pre-compose my auctions and schedule them to start at a later time. I have a complete set of shield nickels that I'll be listing one coin per auction, for 17 auctions. Do you think there are enough snipers out there that snipe manually, so it would be to my benefit to spread the ending times out a bit, to give them time to go from one auction to the next?

I'd space them out a minute apart. You never know.

If they're the type of coins that would be bid on by the same pool of collectors you're better off staggering the end times. I'd list them with 15 minute intervals between each, preferably ending on Sunday night between 5 and 8 o'clock PST.

I always use 15 min. intervals and seem to have good results with bidders winning multiple auctions.

Doesn't matter to me, I use Vrane. I've nailed eight auctions at once, all ending at the same time.
  • As a person who normally snipes manually, I find people who end all of their aucions at the same time to be a little foolish. If you have several items I would be interested in, I only have a chance to compete (and potentially drive up) on one of them. Spreading them out by just a few minutes would allow a sniper or outbid underbidder to move on to another auction and try their luck there. It really won't delay your sales and it has the potential to increase your bottom line.
  • If you use a sniping service/program it wouldn't matter but many don't & for THEM you'll lose bids if all at same time OR too close together. image

Perhaps the data in THIS (these - as 1 has links to 2 others) thread might help.

I have a group of 10 going up this week and will be using 10 min. between then. That's a 100 min. spread. With the time zones it's fun to figure when to start it up. I'm central. I feel we all have found it tough to be at two places at once. image

Thanks for all the comments. I just posted them, spcing them about a minute apart. I figure that's enough time to jump from auction to auction for someone interested in multiple auctions.

BTW, here's a little trick I use that saves a big 10 cents per auction. Initially, when I wite up the auction (no auction helper-type software used) I set it to start at a scheduled time. Then, at the time I want to post the auction, I just go in and edit the auction to start now.

Good tip Barry...I hadn't thought of doing that.
