Mile High Card goes live

I enjoy Brian Drent not only as a person but as a dealer. So I thought that I would mention his quality auction going on right now. He went live with it yesterday and already has 500 bids in the first day. Some great mix of cards graded by all three companies, which is different than what I am used to seeing. I am not a fan of GAI, but it sure seems to me that these are showing up more in these types of auctions. Do you think dealers prefer them or the buyer does??? Anyway, in the auction I saw some great looking pre-war cards from the Cracker Jacks, Allen&Ginter, and Batter ups. I sure love the way these batter ups show up when I am finished with upgrading/improving my set. Some great completed sets that have great break up value to them.
What catches your fancy?

I picked up some great cards last auction. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything in this auction that is on my wantlist.

    Callecho-
That is one of my favorite cards. What a beautiful design with such bold colors.

Sorry, that last post did not go through.

I know it is early, but it looks like the cards in PSA holders have more bids that cards in GAI holders. I wonder which card will end higher the '53 PSA Snider or the '53 GAI Snider.

Who wants to guess? I say the PSA card, centering much better.

  • Very nice auction. I'm wondering what everybody thinks about Lot 35. I'm interested in that card but, based on a discussion I saw on another message board, I am hesitant to bid. Thank you in advance for any information that you can provide.

  • The incoherent babble from the previous two posters has left me scratching my head and wondering if anybody here actually knows anything about old baseball cards.

  • Your right "Chip". No one on here knows zip and after two posts you might want to scoot your second or third handle on elsewhere.

If you do happen to come back on and pretend to be someone with card interests, could you list a set or two of your registered stuff for us to view? Thanks in advance.

Yes,Ole "Chip" is "new" but PM's me four times a week proving he knows me. There are only a few people up on here ast 2 am,3am,4am et.

Chip needs to be dipped in something and also needs to stop inboxing me. It's just like the SGC chat board where the same person ( who does not exist and no one knows as the four alias handles ) keeps posting trash that supports the owner of the card initially asked about above. Must be a funny coincidence-not!

Sounds like the guy could use some professional help. Not uncommon behavior for some who post on boards. I see it on other boards I frequent too. These types of people are generally socially ill at ease and would never act this way face to face. Just ignore him.

  • I wonder if the preponderence of GAI cards I am seeing in these auctions are actual consignments or dealers trying to move GAI inventory ? Thoughts?

It's a good bet that all the GAI 9.5's used to be in PSA 9 holders.
Also, the GAI 8.5's used to be PSA 8's, and right on down the line.

Can't imagine why a collector would cross his cards to GAI,
and then consign them for sale, so logic would dictate that they're dealer's cards.

Luxury-that is a very good point. I took off the 34 Batter up off my set and added yours to it. Thank you.
