Bad Weather

The next several days there is going to be very bad weather in NY. How will that effect this seairs. I hope the weather doesn't play a factor.

I don't know why the heck they don't make the season 150 games and make the Division series 7 games also. On second thought, I guess I do know...Owner's Money.

It is a shame that these super-important games are played in such cold weather conditions - it would be nice if the playoffs started a few weeks earlier, instead of the WS ending in November.

Oh boy....I think we should just have a new league that includes ONLY the Yankees and Red Sox. Who cares about the rest of it. Let 'em play each other 100 times, then hibernate. image

Until they put a hard cap (and floor) on salaries, there might as well just be those 2. The only thing more disgusting than the yankees spending $200 million to field a team are the red sox, calling the yankees the 'evil empire', then going out and spending more than any other team (except the yankees, of course).

The reason the NFL has taken over and is absolutely dominating the american sports team is the cap. Every year, every team is even as far as spending...and that parity has made every week a much more exciting venture.

Baseball needs to get over itself, and realize that it's been bleeding fans since the strike of '94....and a hard cap would be the best way to bring parity to baseball.
  • If the Angels were still in it , it wouldnt be cold. Its only cold because of the teams that are in it.

I can hear it now "The only reason the Sox beat us was because of the weather"

    Yes - yes- and yes!

I also would like to see the season "shortened" a bit. Heck, JMO, but they can remove the interleague play in the middle of the year to shorten it up a bit.

Also - watch for Beltran to be a yankee CF next year - $20 mil

Should not affect anything. Both teams equally affected. If this was horse racing, with identified mudders and sloppy tracker's, it would be different. Bye and regards.

As far as owners losing revenue from a shortened season, a salary cap, with tv revenues shared (just like they do in football) would allow the owners to be as profitable as they are now (and don't listen to the owners who whine they are losing money...they are lying).

Take all the regional TV money, roll it into a fund, distribute it equally to all teams, do the same with team merchandise (yes, just like the NFL) and you'd have a lot more teams fielding a much better product year in and year out. You'd have teams like Toronto and Tampa Bay able to be competitive...instead of settling to be .500. How can a team like Toronto compete in a division with the 2 highest spending teams in all of baseball? Tampa ownership is on record as saying that a .500 season for them is a goal...it's impossible to compete with $200 million and $135 million payrolls when you are able to afford $50 million.

The weather is not a factor...it's not like it's raining when the yankees are in the field and clear when the Sox are in the field, both teams have to play in it.
