What happened to her nose on this 1878?

Is this a known variety on a 78 Morgan or is this just really unusual wear? This obviously is a well circulated piece.

It is caused by overpolishing of the die. If the coin is a 78-P 7TF with the b1 reverse it may be a Vam-79.

What vamcollector said. Also could be a common 7/8 TF coin...vam-33. On 8 tail feather coins, VAM-7 and VAM-14.5 have overpolished noses although VAM-14.5 is much stronger than 7.

So...which reverse is it?

It is a 78P 7 TF. Thanks again guys- I have a new found respect for anyone who understands Morgan Vam #'s.

Its not a deviated septum. The cocain is caustic and continued use will carrode

the septum to the point that surgery is necessary to rebuild it.
