Was I sent the coin I won? E-bay fraud? (update)
I had communicated with the dealer before the auction ended, and I know he was disappointed that the coin did not get more bids.
Now that I got the coin in the mail I think that I was not sent the coin that was in the auctions.
Nothing matches up. Not the rim ding, not the spotting, nothing. Scroll detail on the coin I got is absolutely absent. This really stinks.
Please let me know what you think, because I would like to act as quickly as possible if a refund request may be in order.
Thanks.

My World Coin Type Set
"Simon,
The coin I received from you is not the coin that was pictured in your ebay auction. I would like to receive the correct coin, please. If this was an accidental mix-up please let me know if you would like this coin back, since it is essentially worthless.
I have attached scans of the coin you sent as well as your scans from the e-bay auction. You can clearly see that they are not the same coin. Nothing on the two coins matches up. Not the rim dng, not the spotting, not the wear on the detail, nothing!
I see you already have a recent e-bay negative from a buyer claiming the wrong coin was sent.

A stock photo of a fairly decent coin but the one you get is a grade or two lower.

If the seller were invited here in real time to view the thread it might give him a sudden change of heart for fear his auctions will become tainted. Perhaps a standard e-mail in letter format with a distinctive logo with pictures attached-this particular thread exemplifies what I mean: how much more does anyone have to see beyond what the thread contains? Good clear pictures of the auction coin, the coin shipped, and expert opinions rendered....
Well, just a thought-I know if it happened to me, I'd love to have something like that in reserve to protect me.
Sorry about your problems John, here's to a happy resolution.

Laurent's idea was going to be my backup plan if the seler said he would not give me a refund.
Here is the response I got from the seller:
"Hello john
I am sorry about the mix up but i had 2 of these coins and sold both of them and looking at the picture you sent me i have out the wrong coin in your envelope so if you send me the coin back i will give you a full refund as i do not try to mislead prople with my listing as the recent negative feedback may suggest as wgat you can not see on that feedback comment is the fact that we exchanged e-mails and then i heard no more from him till the feedback was posted.
I am an amateur coin collector who buys and sells coins on ebay so i can afford the odd coin that i like and i have been the victum once or twiice and feel really bad about the mix up
sorry again
kind regards
simon "
I don't believe a word of it, of course. He must have had that other coin for sale somewhere else since it wasn't e-bay. I replied saying that I would like the refund and would like to know if he will refund the 5 pounds for S+H since the shipping was only 0.68 pounds. I sure would like to have a positive ending to this all.

As a part time seller, I know the risk you take when you list a coin with a low opening bid. Sometimes you get burned and just have to eat it.
