Too bad that 96 O is not as nice as the other one. Well, if it were I'd be selling that pup.

Question: the black residue on the obverse of the 96 O, could that be from an old dip that someone done and the black didn't come till after slabbing and grading? Of course ANACS should have net graded it for cleaning. I'm sure someone has seen this before and could share what the black is from. Thanks

You have a nice looking 1896. As for the 1896-0, it is hard to tell from the picture. The coin looks enhanced to me, however, if it were related to a dip residue, ANACs would mostlikey have net graded the coin. They did not do that.

That 1896 is . Is the black "stuff" laying on the coin like toining?

coinkat, honestly I think the 96 O looks terrible. It's just down right ugly IMO. Picked both of them up a while back as a package deal. The photos do seem to be different though. They were shot at the same time, same setup. I don't use photoshop. I just crop and resize to JPEG. To me the 96 O would be AU-50 at the most. Hey, that would make a good one to send to PCGS. Would it BB ?

Chris, the black stuff looks like vapors or something and I think it's growing.

I owned a 1921 Peace Dollar Ch. AU many years ago that had rubberband wrapped around a stack of coins when I purchased them. Unfortunately the 21 had the rubberband imprint (black) etched into the surface of the coin on the (obverse) and there was no was way to get it off.
