1882 Morgan date error

Ok, my first pics this am pretty much sucked.....but at least these came out clear.

The question is in regards to the dates. One is an "O" and the other is an "S".

The "2" looks open and taller on the 2nd one, was there a VAM listed for this?

Earl, every Morgan dollar has a VAM number assigned. I don't have my VAM book with me so I can't give you the VAM numbers. There were slight variations in the dates every year.
  • That much I did realize. I have never seen a variation on the same year from diff mints.

I do, but honestly the photos are too small to make a positive id. There's about 12-15 common different doubled date varities in 1882-O alone.
  • Here are some better shots of the coins in question.
