Goose chase type: Wild

I own this coin:

image

I traced it back to the Heritage September 1999 sale lot 5773 where it was said to be part of the 'Scott Gilchrist Collection of Dollars'.

So the questions are:

Who was Scott Gilchrist?
Where is he now?
Where did he get this coin?
Why in the he11 would I care about any of this?

Thank you for your participation.

Those are truely cool coins, there is a guy who posts occasionally here on the boards that has a whole load of them, in quite the beautiful collection. He showed me a couple of them and it was a real joy to look at them and get the benefit of his knowledge on the subject.

Thanks, any more? Post more pics if you can.

Are you sure it didn't say Bill Gilchrist?

I owned a number of these ranging from MS-62 to MS-65. Bill bought a 63 from me.

I "may" still have a few in the toy boximage
