Further to my posting about our new Coin software system, I wanted to point out some of the design, features, and goals of the software. NumisEXPERT PRO3 is a completely new software system intended to build an integrated on-line community of everyone in the coin collecting environment. Right now there are thousands of stand-alone webs, and some networks that appeal to specific segments of the field, but there is none that encompasses everyone. Another way of stating that is that we are “not all on the same page”. We are, so to speak, living in the Stone Age, a world of little villages, some connected by footpaths, some by canals, but most separated from the others. Some may think this is to their advantage but we feel it is not good for the coin collecting community. We are not aware of anyone trying to change this state of affairs, we believe that the coin collecting community will benefit mightily if it comes into the modern age, and we are developing this software to effect that change. The software that we are inviting you to try is the first shot in this endeavor.
The goal is to build an interactive environment that will help everyone in coin collecting. The collector is the basis, the foundation of coin collecting, so we will provide every tool and information so that he is fully knowledgeable. We will be providing a price list addressing every U.S. coin since 1616, including varieties, errors and attributes, priced in every numerical grade. This price list will be computed in real time daily from dealers’ offers, flyers, catalogs, sales, auctions, webs and every source we can find. The prices will be accurate and timely. As the system builds and gains more and more users, we will start to be able to provide empirically accurate data on populations, and market trend and demand. The system recognizes several different brands of albums, and many different ways of collecting coins, and can analyze a collection and provide solid recommendations on how to improve the collection, and for collectors to find and acquire coins to improve their collections so they consistently increase in value (whether or not the collectors want to sell their coins, ultimately an heir might want to or might need to).
Want Lists that are automatically generated will be able to show the collector every matching coin that is available by the various dealers and collectors throughout the system so he can make the best buying decision. The system will support registry sets from recognized grading companies as well as less formal registry sets amongst the collectors. It will provide an accurate inventory with enough accurate information to satisfy any requirement. While it currently supports only U.S. coins since 1616, we will be adding master databases for other countries, and other eras, again with comprehensive data and pricing. We expect to be adding features for a long time to come.
For the dealer, the system will automate all the time and labor consuming functions to make it cheaper, better and faster for dealers to sell coins and to give his customers the kind of service they want. The system will track and analyze all the dealers “buys” and “sells” to identify where he is getting the best return so he can maximize his business. The software will enable him to provide custom service to all of his customers, to help they maximize their collection. Dealer want lists will insure that he is making effective use of the available coins in the market to better serve his customers. The system automates appraisals for customers, liquidation of estates; registry set building and will be able to create auction catalogs, mailers, flyers, and direct personal sales offers. There are many selling tools built in and more coming. If a dealer so desired, he could list his entire inventory on CWL (www.coinweblisting.com), and Ebay, and Yahoo, and several other venues, still offer some of his inventory in his shop or office, and offer other parts of it at shows and presentations. If a coin sells in any venue, the others are immediately pulled down. This allows maximizing exposure and maximizing sales. Collectors that come to shows with their want lists on their WiFi pda will be led directly to the tables that have what they want. They will be able to buy (and pay for), with the click of a button, as they walk in the door.
Our price list will be initially weekly, and later in real time. If a coin is going up in value, you inventory will automatically be re-priced to the new price in real time. You will know the demand for each coin, and will your inventory will automatically respond to all want lists automatically and in real time (and those responses will be updated as prices change).
There are many more features that will be of help to you in running your business. Rather than write a book here, please go to the Portal http://www.numisexpert.com/NEDealerWebHome/default.aspx and click on the link New User? Sign Up Now to register for the new software. Even if you have been using prior versions of our software, this is completely new, much more advanced software and you need to sign in as a new user for the BETA. If you are running a prior version, we will provide you a migration path for your data at the end of the BETA.
Sorry, I should have pointed this out in the original message. You will remain registered in the original software, AND you will be registered in the new software.
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, ideas on how to improve the software, or complaints, please send them to me at janschwenk@ripi.com
