Whst should I do?

Last Sunday one of my auctions on ebay,a 53' Willie Mays PSA 1 and the buyer still hasn't paid.I emailed him several times and stated that the auction clearly states'item must be paid within 7 days'.His latest email said he was waiting for his money to transfer to paypal which takes3-5 days.I told him bull****!!You don't transfer money to paypal. My question is do I relist the item and hope I don't recieve negative feedback or wait a few more days. His feed back is 60 all positive.

Patience Daniel-son... some buyers are quirky, regardless of your 7 day disclaimer. Ultimately, this guy sounds like a slow payer, but he's got a good track record of paying, and I doubt he's trying to back out. Perhaps he's awaiting payment from something else which he then plans to turn around and send to you. I would give him another week before doing anything drastic, and in the end, once he pays whether it's been 8 days or 12, I would still leave him a positive feedback. If you don't get payment within a week, then I would proceed with the NPB approach. That's my opinion.

Actually, you can transfer money to PayPal from your bank account, if it is set up that way. You can transfer money out of PayPal to your bank, too. And it does take several days for the money to show up in your bank account, not sure about the other way.

Anyway, regardless of your personal policy for receiving payment, eBay has its own policies and will not take drastic action for sellers who are merely impatient. You are allowed to file a non-paying bidder notice after 7 days if the buyer is not responding to your reminders, at which time eBay will give the buyer friendly nudges. If the buyer still doesn't respond, the seller can relist the item free. But in this case the buyer is talking to you, so this wouldn't help.

Sure, it's irritating when the buyer doesn't have the cash in hand when the deal closes. Either he's going to send the cash as promised in a few days, or he's stringing you along. If you fear the latter, I'd read up on eBay's policy for how long buyers have to send you the money. You can have your own policy, but ultimately it's eBay's policy that counts when it comes to enforcement.
  • I would give him at least 3-5 days. If he didn't respond to your emails then you should be more worried. Just be patient.

i once read where ebay stated 14 days was allowed for payment and another 14 days for receipt of the item. im not sure if that was the rule or not. if it was that would add up to 28 days at most and if you were a buyer then you still had time to notify paypal (if in fact you used it) for a chargeback.

btw one can transfer money to paypal.
    Good for you.
  • I emailed him and said I'd give him another week if he needed it.

Good decision, d.y. 7 days is kind of short, I think, so it's good to give buyers a little leeway. Most of the time people can pay in that amount of time, but sometimes people don't check their email every day, they go out of town, they need to transfer money, or they simply don't have time to pay bills until the weekend. Personally, I've had all of the above happen at one time or another.
