Wasn't there a thread recently regarding use of the Registry as advertisement to sell a set?
An entire set was just listed.
Is it or is it not against the rules to list a set solely to advertise it as follows?

So let's rumble. Is what I just copied and pasted, as written by the owner/ poster of
a brand new set, a violation of the rules....to use the Registry as advertisement?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Here ya go. What is this, a billboard advertising a put together set, explicitly for sale?
Nothing wrong with selling your set but as Craig just said, using the Registry as a vehicle is not acceptable!
I'm sure it's a nice set, but being #11 isn't quite the same as #1

Didn't I get in enough trouble with the last thread?

Gets it linked in the PCGS US coin forum.
BRILLIANT!
I'd like to hire the guy.
Edited to add: I do not think it to be such a big deal. People use the registry as a marketing tool all the time. And this is the 11th finest Washington quarter set. I guess it would be more interesting if it were the finest Washington set or the 11th finest complete set of large cents by Sheldon number.
What I find interesting is that there are very nice coins available that aren't on the registry. What I would like to know is how recently did these get graded, has he had this set put away for a while and just got it certified to sell? It makes you wonder just how many great coins are stored away and not on the market.
<< <i>I honestly thought this was the purpose of the registry - >>
I see the purpose of the registry as a place to show off your collection (This is why I hate people with closed sets and sets that don't picture their coins), and if you feel so, to compete againest other sets... not as a way to market and sell your coins...

<< <i>I can't see where the "11th finest washington set" is a great selling point. >>
It's better than 12th, 30th, or 50th
Also, others can buy upgrades. He obviously has better coins than many so people will upgrade their sets. He probably has a good shot at getting some good prices as those below him bid to get better grades.

It sure is getting some advertising space here!

Maybe he thinks so too, and the seller.
And getting up to 11 isn't that easy on any of the sets if your on a budget.
neither do I.
Now pass the kool aid
