My new Trade Dollar came in. 1878 - S

I posted buying this coin on both sides of the street. A new pick-up I ordered last night. A 1878 - S Trade Dollar. In hand and looking at it straight on, it looks like your typical gold/grey coin of the time period. When tilted, I can see the nice, light toning on both sides. A bluish tone on the reverse and a near rainbow on the obverse. I consider it a keeper.

Thanks! In case your wondering, it`s graded by NGC as XF45. It`s in the newer(?) holder. The " L " in " Liberty " is weak but, it is clearcut. A little more then the scan might suggest but, not by much. Overall, a good strike and fairly even wear. The toning is pretty light and can be seen on a typical table lamp at a tilt. This is my first Trade Dollar. I Still like my Morgans, Peace, and Ikes. Just that I`m ready to do some exploring for something abit different then what I have been getting.

Looks great. I just picked one up for my type set in 58. can't wait to get it. It's fun to fill in those big holes.
