  • Type 1. The Type 2 clear 'S' is more slender looking.

  • I think I got ripped off. Here's the link to our EBay transaction. He has over a thousand transactions and they are over 99% good feedback, but he's not a registered user! What happened?

Judging by his last three feedbacks, all from the same bidder who only has one feedback and is also NARUed, I'd guess he got nailed for shilling.

  • Looks like Type 1 to me.

  • Look at his feedbacks. One of his bidders got NARU at the same time. He was using shills to pad his feedback rating or to keep his items from selling too low, which are both no-no's.

    Shill bidder on top.

Both are definitely type 1's.The type 2 has a flat surface, like it was shaved off.

I have some type 2s coming back from PCGS, if they get here today I'll post pictures.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Both are T-1, the highest parts of a T-2 are flat and will show some frost.

  • Definitely a shill. I checked his ID history and he used to go by punkiecarion. The shill bidder ID is punkie1949. Coincidence?? I think not.

  • Thank you all for your input here. I am sure to benefit from your descriptions and photo links of real type-1 & 2's.

I've reported the culprit who took my money and failed to send me the correct type of coin. I was completely taken in by his description of what an expert he was and how well he knows the difference between the two types. What a crock of bull. And his shills if the same person, well I'm just glad they are out of business. I only wonder who they will be next week and hope I meet up with him/them a minimum number of times in the future.

In defense of the coin, it is at least a PR-67 CAM and could very possibly be worth the money I spent if I keep it for a few years. It is better than the Type-1 that I currently have in the collection I am working on.
