mantle card on mastro

i was wondering why a person would send a seemingly nice mantle rookie to psa just for authintication and not get graded. i am refering to lot number 464 on the current mastro auction. i can see why it may prove benificial for a low grade card but this looks to be a 2-4 range card.

    Ranger
Perhaps the seller doesn't want the card 'branded' by the grade and let the bidder make their own choice in order to, perhaps, get a better price? Although I like PSA, I think many times on ebay I wind up buying the holder and not the card - not all psa 8's are created equal. For some reason, I could not blow the card up?

if you blow up the card you will see that it has some really nasty wrinkles..maybe creases on the top right side

  • Personally,
I like the idea of having cards authenticated. I would do it for piece of mind and to protect the card. However I would not do it to a card I was going to sell.

    My two cents

looks much more desirable in an authentic psa holder
    than a numbered/graded one.however since it is a
mastro item there must be something questionable
about the card we cant see.

has a stain and creases....perhaps it would grade a 1 or 2 with a qualifier so the submitter merely just wanted it authenticated

id prefer authentic as opposed to pr-fr 1 (st)

I thought the "AUTHENTIC" label was reserved for trimmed or altered cards only.

    ditto on what koby said
collecting various PSA and SGC cards

In order for PSA to actually assign a grade to any of the cards that possess visible/defined borders on all four sides, evidence of that border must be present. If the cut exceeds the visible border for the card in question, PSA will encapsulate the card as "Authentic" only. If the card is severely undersized and suffers in overall eye-appeal, the graders may deem the card not suitable for authentication or reject the card as minimum sized altogether.

it states in the mastro description that psa would not assign a graded due to the abnormal ink on the lower right corner hence the authentic designation.
