PCGS Heroes Series

So PCGS keeps rolling out the autographed slabs. Who are they consigning to sell them? I don't see where they sell them directly.

My feeling on these slabs (and others in the series) can be summed up succinctly:

Nice marketing, though -- you can buy a coin for $X, you can buy an autograph for $Y, or you can buy an autographed slab for several times $(X+Y). It wouldn't be so bad if the autographs had *anything* to do with numismatics...but they usually don't.

  • I just wonder if, for example only, they commision B&M to sell them? Isn't that a conflict of interest - having a customer sell for you? Not questioning anyone's ethics, just wonderment. I'm in a conspiracy mood.
  • Most of the earlier signature slabs were commissioned by Les Fox. I don't know if these are done by him as well but rather than a conflict of interest of PCGS having a customer market them for PCGS, it is more likely the customer is having PCGS advertise it for him.
