nice looking coin. don't know if its real, didn't look long enough. no comment on seller. however, for that moolah, i'd like it entombed/in plastic. don't like my coins that way (plasticised), but in this case i need authentication and grade to support the price.
Probably for no good reason (other than my own ignorance and/or lack of confidence), I am innately suspicious of ebay sellers of key date material that is not certified. It probably causes me to miss out on a good deal here or there, but I sleep better at night.

RYK, I think you have a good instinct, at least on this coin. That coin on eBay is a counterfeit, imho. It is very well done, but the date is ever so slightly out of position. In addition, some of the characteristics of a genuine 42/1 are missing, for example the die line through the date. The "fabric" is not right either, but that's a difficult thing to describe. If he would have posted better images, I could give you a more certain opinion, but I think that there's a reason why his images are not that great.
Run like the wind on this one...........
PS - the good news is that there are no bidders so nobody is getting hurt.........this time.
I think someone said something negative concerning hsturn here once, but I don't remember if it was about altered photos, artificial toning, or what. He has 99.9% feedback, though, so that says something.

"It is very well done, but the date is ever so slightly out of position." That bothered me a lot.
BTW Dennis, you've just been included in my "good guy" list
Son of a b........
Someone won the counterfeit 42/1 dime on eBay. I should have reported him to ebay. Is there any way to contact the bidder through eBay?

Yeah, there are a lot of things wrong with it, but simply look at the "1" in the overdate; waaaaaay off.
