What would happen to the coin market if.....

I just finished reading a article about our current economic instabilitity. The authors view points towards the collapse of the stock market. Of course there are many theoris and certainly no definite forecast of what the future holds. There obviously are many issues that our nation is currently struggling with. I pose a few questions...

How would the bullion market react to an economic collapse?

Would gold fare better than silver?

What would this do to the rare coin market? Its obvious many collectors would not have disposable income if any at all.

I think you need to define economic collapse.

Stock market crash, real estate market crash, recession, depression... they all have different effects.

Is the author a bullion dealer, or affiliated with the bullion trading business?

"How would the bullion market react to an economic collapse?"

It would go up as the dollar went down.

"Would gold fare better than silver?"

No, they would both do well.

"What would this do to the rare coin market? Its obvious many collectors would not have disposable income if any at all."

There would also be a crash in the rare coin market for the reason you stated.

However, the stock market has been going sideways for the last year or more, and IMO will continue to do so until the economy improves (i.e. no crash just blah performance).

This info comes and goes. If your Library has a decent amount of books it may carry many books written over the decades about the forthcoming this or that or predicting this or that crash or this or that rise. Interesting reading but they are not predictors because the public and/or Gov't can and will throw a monkey wrench in if the results left to their own devices would be too devastating.

This is kind of like asking why psychics don't win the lottery.
