New toner for my Morgan set.......I can't lay off the color!!!

Not sure how this one will look in hand, but I like what I can see and that's all that matters............image

Man, it was only a month ago when I bought my first toned coin and now this will make 5 coins since then..............I feel like I am just beginning to really get into my collecting grove image

For those that tell me to dip this one............I say to each his own image

That is my favorite color or toning. In hand, I dont think it will be too drastic, but it will have a lovely shade of teal blue. I have one just like it. Its one of my favorites. Nice coin!

  • It may not look like the image - here's a imaged coin fromthe same seller that says "100% FLASHY WHITE" and it sure looks toned! image

  • Well I can see the blue pretty clearly, but the rest of the coin could be anything........I still think I am going to like it and I agree that Flashy White does appear toned image
  • Hopefully you'll be able to take a better picture than the seller. Looks like you got a good deal! image

This seller is a photo doctor, the coin will look nothing like the photo. I passed on bidding for it.

  • I don't like the angle or the lighting of that picture. It's in an NGC holder, and NGC gives out stars for exceptional toning patterns, and this one doesn't have a star on it. I hope it looks better in hand than in the picture. No mention is made of a return policy, so you may get stung if you don't like it. Good luck to you.

  • Good points all, I will wait and see. It doesn't appear to be black which is probably about the only toning I wouldn't like. As for not receiving the Star designation form NGC, I wouldn't imagine a two or 3 color coin without a nice distinct pattern would warrant that anyway. I wasn't looking for a jaw dropper, but I don't own a coin with that shade of blue so hopefully I do now.

I will of course attempt to post some better pictures once the coin arrives. If the image of the coin was dramatically altered by the seller then I will not hesitate to leave negative feedback regardless of any refund potential.

    Is this not exceptional color?

    Or perhaps this morgan?

Just because it doesn't have a star does NOT mean the toning isn't nice on a coin--I've got dollars with stars and without... and I like some of the ones without stars better than the ones with stars... and I've seen coins with identical toning patterns--one with a star and one without (that were from the same submission, too).

  • I like both coins, especially Jeremy's, and of course, I have to agree with Jeremy on this... sliderider, I've noticed you seem to make a lot of assumptions, many times unwarranted assumptions, or assumptions based not completely on fact or on speculation... as my drama teacher used to say, "What happens when you assume? You make an ass out of u and me..." But in this case, you're just making an ass out of yourself image

  • My gut feeling is it will come out fine. As others have stated, if fairly good with a digital camera, the angle can make it look one way when it`s another. You probably already knew that and my gut feeling says it`s fine.
  • Since the original picture was so bad, I thought I would post a picture I took of the coin...................needless to say I was pleasently surprised at how nice the coin was:

The image hasn't been doctored in any way I simply angled the coin slightly on the scanner bed and was able to successfully capture the toning. The reverse isn't very spectacular, but it does have a little bit of the same blue around the rim. I just wanted to show folks that sometimes bad scans can allow for good purchases image
  • Well Kryptonite...you're hosed now...it's an addiction.

One I picked up from mbcoins yesterday...looking forward to seeing it in hand.

  • Wow, and PL to boot.....should be even better in hand......congrats image
