eBay Fraud Report response

Recently an eBay auction for a Washington Quarter was brought to our attention here on the forum. The seller has zero feedback and the picture and description were obviously stolen from a previously sold auction (previous auction sells on a Sunday, new bogus auction the following Monday).
I made an inquiry to eBay about this new auction and here is the response:
<< <i>Hello,
Thank you for contacting us with your concerns, my name is Elmer and I'm
happy to assist you further.
Unfortunately, we will only be able to take action if the owner of the
image or text writes to us. In some instances, certain members will
allow others to use their images. It is also possible that they acquired
the image from a mutual source. Therefore, we often cannot remove
listings based on the representations of third parties whose credentials
we cannot verify.
We do understand the potential for further issues in this type of
situation. That is why, if you feel strongly about this issue, we
recommend you contact the seller(s) to advise them of the information
and recommend they contact us directly. Once we hear from them, we will
take appropriate action.
Thank you for being part of the eBay community. >>
Ok, So if a fraudulent auction is brought to their attention they expect the crooked seller to contact them ?

I am guessing that this is the first time you have written eBay? This level of "interest" is typical.

I'm not sure how you got that from their response. And everything they said seems to make sense to me.
Could you clarify

Hi,
"That is why, if you feel strongly about this issue, we
recommend you contact the seller(s) to advise them of the information

That's it, no?

I can see how it needs to be that way. The owner is a seller as well.
Just the way I read it.
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."

uh, no. I've been on eBay since they started. I have written ebay quite a few times and 99% of the time they do show hesitancy to do anything about a situation, or they give the form letter response of "We have investigated this issue and find no ...........
<< <i>and recommend they contact us directly."
That's it, no?
Best,

yes, i think that's where i interpreted the intent.
<< <i> I take it to mean the original seller in the true auction, who is the owner of the image. >>
yes, i believe this is what they meant
Explanation: The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids.
WOW !!
scumnuker wanted to make sure he 'won' the auction !!
