Could you tell me a little bit about it-it has such a nice progression of color from a light tan or orange to that wonderful ruddy dark red or maroon. It would be worthy of an artist who set out to paint an attractive picture of that fish. It makes good color sense and yet it's an accident of nature.

That is what I like about good toning-it can stand up on purely artistic merits.

Still have a long, long way to go in the camera skills department.

This tiny little Prussian (?) piece has a hint of color on the obverse that I didn't capture. The reverse glows a bit more than the pic indicates.

I haven't even attributed it yet.

Edit: Aha. Found it. East Prussia, one grossus, 1778-E. Cataloged under Poland. It books $12.50 in VF and $22.50 in EF. Only 317,000 struck. Interestingly, it's billon and not copper. Nice snag. I doubt I have a buck in it. Stole it from a Dead King.

And some lovely Liteside toners I tried to capture, but failed miserably at. (Got a little of the peripherals on the Shield nick).

For now, I am still shooting freehand with some questionable lighting.

    Don't you mean 1895? I thought 1927 was Hindenberg's B-day.
