Never thought this would happen again

I sold one of my spare motherboards/CPU to a colleague at work and told him that I had already spent the money a couple of days when I bought an old baseball card. He then mentioned that he has, at his parent's house where he grew up, a "shoebox full of old cards". After recovering from my brief fainting spell, I did found out that he remembers there being "a lot of cards in there from the 50s/60s/70s". Man, the last time something like this happened to me was back in the 80s. I told him the next time you go up there, get the shoebox and I will make you an offer you can't refuse.

I had the same thing happen with a 60 year old guy I worked with at the post office last year. Still lived in the same house he grew up in. I also had the fainting spell when he threw out the "shoebox full of old cards" line. SO I went to check it out one weekend, and sure enough....

He rips out an Air Jordan box filled to the brim with 1990 Topps and 1989 Donruss commons. I have no idea where he found those turds. Best of luck to you, and remember that if you see a box full of Steve Lombardozzi, Charlie Hough, and those sweet Ben McDonald rookies staring you in the face, you will have to look through all of them with the guy to confirm that they are indeed worthless.
  • Mudflap... where did you get that little video playing in your sig line...
man, I am rolling so hard!

I have one of those amazing stories. When I ws about 10yrs old... (1980) A college guy in my apartment complex gave me a shoebox full of minty cards from 1965 and 1967 Topps baseball and another smaller shoe box with 1966 and 1967 phili football.

I had no idea what I had except the hall of famers I recognized and good guys playing in 1980 like rose etc...

All of the older kids traded with me vigorously for weeks and helped me acquire a lot of reggie jacksons!

I keep having that dream where I go to a garage sale and find a shoebox filled with cards from the 50's or 60's and some old lady with a bee hive hairdo and horned rimmed glasses says $5 for the whole box...

Surely I'd make the cover of scumbags usa if I did that...
    but, It's a nice dream...

The best and only garage sale find I've had in the past couple years is a showbox full of 88-91 Donruss. I did, however, recently find a box of silver age comics, but that's for another place and time.
