Last night I entered the last of the cards I needed to complete my 1972 set in PSA8 NQ or better. As I was entering them, it made me think that noone completes a high-grade set of nearly 800 cards without help.
Frank Bakka is truly the king of 72s. I'm not sure any one person has seen more 72s - or submitted more 72s than Frank. His knowledge and expertise on the set is remarkable. More importantly, he's a good guy.
Erik Jarvi, Neil Downey, Brad Horton, and Rich Corpis all supplied a good number of cards. Erik's set is remarkable in its own right. Neil and Rich climbed the mountain and saw other challenges awaiting them. Brad needs two more cards to finish - Blue IA and Lolich. If anyone has these, please let Brad know. Go Brad Go!
Several dealers also were very helpful - Jim at 707. . .Mickey's Cards. . .Jay at Cavalcade of Sports. . .Rich at Icaan Cards. . .Kyle at Kyle's Sportscards. . .all of these guys were a big help and you should buy from them as much as possible.
As a regular member of these boards, I see all the congratulatory posts when sets are complete - and rightly so. But I am interested in recognizing the people who helped and the friends I made along the way - because that is what I think collecting is really about.

So what now, you may ask.
Well. . .my life is quite different now than when I started building the set. In June I got engaged to a woman who means more to me than I could have dreamed of. And in August, we bought our first house. Also. . .my collecting goals are different. I want to build several high-grade sets from 1969-1984 and will concentrate on raw product. I can always have them graded later should the money and desire present themselves.
To that end. . .I will be selling the complete PSA-graded 1972 set to focus on wedding preparations, home improvement projects, and of course, cards. I will post more details on the sale in the Vintage Sportscard Trading forum.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped.
Mike
