help w/ ebay (aka, i hate ebay!)

I'm hoping someone can tell me what is my next best step for this situation:

Some time ago, a deadbeat bidder (invest303) won one of my more expensive lots. I have not heard from this bidder since - no checkout, emails, nothing! I sent invoice, waited, reminder, waited, then filed a non-bidder dispute. Waited about a month, and finally left a feedback. In all this time, I haven't heard from bidder nor eBay. A couple of days ago, I discover that eBay closed the case and ruled not to grant me the FVF.

Any help would be appreciated...

TIA,

EVP

  • I discover that eBay closed the case and ruled not to grant me the FVF.

For what reason? That doesn't make sense. You can appeal the decision, however.

Even though you filed your case with eBay unless YOU close it out with a final click requesting the fees eBay will, after a period of time assume you reached a stipulation with the other party and close it for you.

At least, that's been my experience.

  • Have you tried live chat?

Although today they are really busy, I had to wait before I got help for like 20 minutes.

They may be able to point you in the right direction or may be a manager is handy.

    Good Luck!

    EVP,
They have recently changed the format for FVF and I believe the other party must answer the request or at least concur that the e-bay transaction did not take place or it was a return. You may want to ask, however if this is the new policy, I can see a problem when something like what you had occurs. If the buyer doesnt respond to seller from the initial purchase, what makes e-bay think the buyer will respond to void out the transaction?

Not sure what to think. I've had a couple deadbeat bidders recently, and sent off the required payment reminders etc. and then filed for my FVF credit. No problem.

I don't believe Ebay has to make contact with the "buyer" in order for the seller to get their FVF's recouped. That seems hard to imagine as a set policy.

Oh yeah, as a next step, I'd phone Ebay, or make customer service aware of the situation. As mentioned above, they have the "chat" feature now.

I want to thank everyone so far for his/her response. At the risk so seeming like an idiot, please tell me HOW to appeal the decision, place a call to a live person or do the live chat thing.

I've filed this non-bidder stuff before, and they've gone through smoothly with minimal effort on my part. As for the reason? Ebay didn't supply one. They just closed the case...

    TIA,

If they give you too much static, ask for a "one-time educational credit"
